Coffee County Sheriff’s Office called on ARC for emergency reinforcement after they discovered multiple violations at this particular location.
All sorts of breeds were found living in total darkness...
Living in cages that had rusted shut and were covered in cobwebs, the animals were forced to exist in inches of their own excrement.
Rescue workers found a wheelbarrow full of dead dogs covered in maggots on the property.
Some of the dogs were so dirty that they were either unrecognizable or matted TO their cages.
Ammonia levels were dangerously high due to the absurd amount of urine the animals were living in.
These animals had given up the will to live...
But with the help of ARC and Coffee County Sheriff's Office, they were immediately taken in and provided with emergency veterinary care.
Without ARC, documenting the scene and getting all the animals out in 12 hours would have been impossible...
Every minute was crucial and meant a life could be saved.
ARC set up an emergency shelter, and dubbed it Operation Midnight Run.
But they don't stop there: the group will provide all necessary care until each and every animal is moved to an approved shelter or rescue organization in the country.
There, they'll all be adopted into a loving forever home.
They're receiving a lot of love and attention from the kind volunteers working on Operation Midnight Run.
These are probably the first instances of human kindness these animals have ever experienced.
...But they are certainly not the last.
