jellyfish at 6:19 PM
The Gershwin family were on a beach last February in the Tasmania
region of Australia when they spotted something odd in the sand. Their
discovery looked like a giant pool of snot or mucus from a distance.
However, as the Gershwins moved closer, what they found took their
breath away.
The anomaly in question was actually a new species of giant
jellyfish. The Gershwins alerted a local marine biologist after taking a
closer look and snapping some pictures.
The biologist was fascinated by the size of
the animal, which was four feet and 11 inches in diameter. Samples were
collected and sent out for further study to try and classify the
creature.
It's thought that this new species of giant jellyfish is somehow related to the lion's mane jellyfish.
The lion's mane jellyfish is one of the
biggest known species of jellyfish on the planet. Their bodies can be up
to seven feet in diameter, and their tentacles can reach up to 120 feet
in length.
There has been no update yet on what this new species of jellyfish
might be. I think it's safe to say that jellyfish are taking over the
oceans, and that's definitely something to be concerned about.

I
think I'll just steer clear of the beach this summer (or possibly
forever) if giant jellyfish are taking over. Jellyfish terrify me to no
end!
