A Nature-Loving Couple Solved All Of Their Problems By Building This Onto Their Car

Who doesn't like camping? The fresh air, the great outdoors, nature...oh, who are we kidding? Many people have a less-than-romantic view of the whole experience. They'll say things like, "Why would I go out to the middle of nowhere just to sleep on the cold, hard ground?"
Good question.
Maybe you don't like camping for the same reason, and the idea of sleeping with the animals, spiders, and dirt isn't all that appealing to you. But what if I told you that you can go camping and you don't have to sleep on the ground at all?

One couple set out on a mission, hoping to solve this problem.

They started by attaching a tent frame to a piece of plywood.

Once the frame was finished, they put up their tent for a test run.

Things were coming along well.

For added durability, they stained and waterproofed the plywood base.

They cut out a protective layer for the top of the tent to prevent leaks.

Here's the tent with the protective layer over it.

Because they didn't want to sleep on the ground...they attached the baseboard to the top of their car!

The board would be secured to this homemade roof rack.

A folding ladder would be necessary to get in and out of their living space, so they attached one to the board.

They chose a soft foam material for their mattress. Looks comfy, huh?

Then all they had to do was attach the tent to the top of the car and test out their new rooftop camper!

This looks so cool!

It was time to hit the open road and find a nice place to spend the night.

Camping never looked so comfy!

This is such a cool tent. And while some camp enthusiasts will still opt for sleeping on the ground (for some odd reason), a rooftop tent like this is a pretty excellent alternative.
